New angle on things: Keys N Krates

Just got tipped off by Phil on this one, These guys Keys N Krates are pretty DopeCool. They are a live band that remixes tracks LIVE (omg how is this possible!). Well they have a bassist, drummer and a dood on the turntables. Personally I really like where they are going with this, originality is key especially when taking things from the crate.(not to be ironic).

Show some love to these guys, go to their shows and support them!

Here’s a pretty DopeCool new track from Kid Cudi feat. Lady Gaga, Kanye West, and Common on a chopped up acoustic version of Gaga’s hit “Poker Face” with an awesomely dirty take on the title.

In similar fashion to M.I.A. and “Swagger Like Us” a few big name rappers have hopped onto the hit single of the latest “quasi-hip-hop-it-girl-of-the-moment” with pretty legit results.

Snoop Dogg + Dubstep!?

Appearently Snoop Dogg now endorses Dubstep, still to be known if this is a good thing or a bad thing (another wise if it is DopeCool enough) but I want to post about this because it’s history in the making, this can only help Dubstep at the moment. Now that this has happened it is filling the gap between Hip Hop and Dubstep.

Please comment with your opinion about this, I am curious to know it, because I am not so much of a fan of what Snoop Dogg is actually saying in this song but I approve the nuance of it. Thank god Chase & Status are starting to finally starting to get the recognition they deserve.

Wave Twisters, DJ Qbert’s 2001 animated turntablism-based musical has been described as a hip-hop Yellow Submarine. Based off Qbert’s ‘98 album of the same name, created using a combination of sampling and scratching. The story follows a space dentist who finds the universe’s ultimate weapon in the belly of a half shark-alligator half man and uses it to fight evil luchador babies. The feature was animated to sync up perfectly with the original recording and is a fun and interesting ride especially for hip-hop heads. I highly recommend you check this out as soon as you can, the original vinyl is actually on its way to DopeCool headquarters at this very moment.

Liquid Swords – The GZA ft. The RZA

Off the GZA’s 1995 album of the same name. One of my favorite Wu-Tang solo efforts this was the soundtrack to many a blunt cruise growing up.

I remember the first time I went to Bodega this song came on and everyone in the store all of a sudden stopped checking out the Dunks and Puma high tops and waited with almost tangible excitement through the epic intro for the beat to drop.
